Downloading case in the High Court

Four record companies have brought a High Court action to compel Eircom - the State's largest broadband service provider - to prevent its networks being used for the illegal downloading of music.
It's the first case to be aimed at the service provider rather than at individual illegal downloaders.
The four record companies taking the action are EMI, Sony BMG, Universal Music and Warner Music.
Willie Kavanagh, Managing Director of EMI Ireland and Chairman of the Irish Recorded Music Association, said because of illegal downloading and other factors, the Irish music industry was experiencing a "dramatic and accelerating decline" in income.
He said sales in the Irish market dropped 30% in the six years up to 2007.
EMI and the other companies are challenging Eircom's refusal to use filtering technology or other measures to voluntarily block or filter illegally downloaded material.
Last October Eircom told the companies it was not in a position to use the filtering software.
Eircom also told the companies that it was not on notice of specific illegal activity which infringed the companies' rights and it had no legal obligation to monitor traffic on its network.

Nbc - Nbc Weinsteins Wrangle Over Project Runway

plans to move its cable hit Project Runway from NBC-owned Bravo to Lifetime,
NBC Universal said Monday that it had signed Runway's creators and producers
to a longterm contract. NBC had previously sued the Weinstein Co., maintaining that
it had given NBC a right of first refusal to the show. Monday's announced deal with
Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz will prevent the pair from accompanying the show to
Lifetime. The Weinstein Co., which already had signed Heidi Klum to continue hosting the
show and fashion guru Tim Gunn to continue as a judge, issued a terse statement calling
Cutforth and Lipsitz "fantastic producers, and we wish them well."

Dr. No, we noted Monday that David Suchet, the actor playing the title character,

Paul Newman will be back in the theatre again this autumn, directing a production of a stage classic.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the 83-year-old will direct a production of John Steinbeck's 'Of Mice and Men' at the Westport Country Playhouse in Connecticut.
The play runs from 7 to 25 October.

'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson has been spotted partying with Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell in London.
They met at the Vanity Fair And Burberry Portraits party at the National Gallery. And despite a 10-year age gap, the 17-year-old actress reportedly seemed enthralled.
"Emma had gone over to speak to Pixie Geldof, who was chatting to Johnny at the time. Emma and Johnny immediately hit it off," an onlooker told the Daily Telegraph.
"It was clear they had loads to talk about - even if they don't look like they have much in common."
According to the Daily Star, Borrell, 27, didn't realise who Watson was until they left the party and fans started calling her name.
The unlikely pair then reportedly hopped into a cab to another fashion party and from there, they are believed to have gone on to a private event at the Dorchester Hotel.
